For those who have accepted the gift of God, Jesus is much more than just an influential leader or a good teacher. He never led an army, never stood for president, and only led a handful of followers, yet we’re alive in 2010 because of Him.
He is the Christ, the Savior, the Son of God, who entered Earth as a man to redeem us from our sin, bring His spiritual kingdom on Earth, and provide the way to eternal life. Although He is not now on Earth physically as a man, He is with us through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is our guide and Savior, the source of all our strength, who will lead us through this life and into eternal life beyond. We can talk to Him in prayer. He speaks to us through the Bible and by His Spirit. He strengthens us everyday with His love.
What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus?
As followers of Jesus, we enter into the kingdom as His sons. True followers have recognised who God is (holy) and who they are before Him (sinful). They turn from their sins and accept God’s gift of life through Jesus. That truth penetrates deep down and results in transformation. Followers want to be used by God for His work. True followers turn away from passions and pursue righteousness, faith and love. Pursuing righteousness through effort won’t work. We can only pursue it by faith. True followers throw off anything that hinders and finish the race.
